What the difference between “weird” and “strange” when we can use one and when can we use other?

Strange is something different or unusual. Weird is applied to events.
“That was weird”.
“He is really strange”
As a native English speaker I use them both the same honestly. I don’t know if we even really know the difference because I would also say…
That was strange
He is really weird
Another common expression is “odd”
That was odd
He is really odd

They are often used interchangeably. One exception: STRANGE can sometimes mean unkown/new; not particularly weird. Ex. "He travelled into strange lands." 'strange' might just mean he hadn't been there before, not the the area was weird.

I use them interchangeably, but weird is arguably viewed more negatively than strange.

Strange is unusual
Odd is a bit polite and stronger than strange and can be used for persons. It is weakest form for strange.
Weird is stronger than odd and used when something or someone is unbelievable or supernatural.
Bizarre is when the strangeness if others cause interest and amusement.
I hope it helps.
