Hi,
I am Elena, an informal Russian tutor here on italki, and I provide both structured and unstructured sessions for my students. For less structered conversational sessions I used to use Google Docs to collaborate with my students. Unfortunately, at the moment I cannot access my Google account, so I am looking for alternative tools. When I provide more structured sessions, I also use RealTimeBoard, which is a great thing with only one drawback: if you have a free account, you can only create 3 boards, no more. And I would like to keep notes for different sessions separate. So I am looking for something which:
1) Is free for me and my students;
2) Allows me and my student edit the file simultaneously during the session (at least, type and edit the text, ideally - add pictures etc.);
3) Can be exported as a file readable by common software (or at least printed or copied and pasted to a Notebook file);
4) Supports Cyrillic;
5) Ideally, allows us to choose privacy settings, protect our documents with passwords etc.;
6) Ideally, does not require registration (signup via Google would be fine).
7) Is quick and reliable.
Up to now, I have found http://notepad.cc/, http://piratepad.net/ and http://linoit.com/, but I cannot say I am completely satisfied with any of them. Do you probably have better options in mind? I would highly appreciate your help!
Thank you very much,
Elena
Hi Elena,
Have you tried Microsoft One Drive (https://onedrive.live.com/)? It is pretty similar to Google Drive functionality-wise and should support all character sets. You will need to create an account unfortunately (no Google single sign on).
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
