Dear Boar,
I like reading your explanation. It's very interesting.
It sometime happens to me that I can't remember what I wanted to remember, which is very important for me. It slips away from my memory. The ghost in Nou play is like that. For example in Nou play "Sumidagawa" the mother who has been chasing her missing son from Kyoto to the river Sumida in Edo reached to his tomb. He died without being noticed by her. She's been praying to see him beneath his tomb. But no sign. She prays and prays and prays, then at mid night her son appears to her. She rejoices to feel him but as she's about to hold him, his sign becomes vague and disappears when the day breaks. He slips away from her. Has he appeared or is it a ghost or her misunderstanding? The story doesn't tell.
In the film, both Mitsuha and Taki think each other like, so to speak, a ghost. She/he wants to see each other but both are not sure who he/she is. Or they're not sure if he/she really exist. It's a similarity of Nou paly, I think. The difference is Taki and Mitsuha could change the "reality". The character in Nou play can't change the real world though. The strong emotion of Taki for Mistuha==the love==could change the history. And they come back to "this world". In Nou play, it remains vague and nothing has changed. You could say It's reasonable. As if the play says "Hey, everyone, it's not real. As you see, the mother saw her son's ghost. It happens only in her mind. So nothing has changed. The dream was over."
I think the film very romantic. But I wonder it appeals to the world? So I'd like to ask anyone here who watches it.
Thank you Tuyey and Chizuko. I might bother you with my bad explanation. I hope it could work a little!
@Tuyet
Thanks!^^
