My wife and I have been looking for someone to start speaking Japanese with if you are interested. We are Americans and native English speakers. 私たちは2年間自分日本語を勉強しています. Our Japanese speaking ability is pretty basic, though, since we've mostly focused on studying kanji so far.

Study abroad tip

Depending on your English ability, your first year studying abroad can feel really discouraging. As a result, it is easy to want to only talk with people from home or other people at the university who speak your language. Make sure you force yourself to get out there and speak in English as much as possible. Your language skill will increase very quickly and you will be glad you did.
