English is spoken as a first language .It is the most commonly spoken language in the world.

It is the language of science, of aviation, computers, diplomacy, and tourism. Knowing English increases my chances of getting a good job in a multinational company within my home country or of finding work abroad.

@ivey yang: It is normal, language is progressing continuously with culture, people. If you want to understand most idioms, jokes, you need to live with their culture. I am saying this for all languages. 

I am a non native English speaker and I also agree with you. I just learn about 3000 word to communication everyday.

As a college student, like millions of others, I've learned English for more than 11 years, but I could hardly speak English even 50% fluently and correctly. Speaking and listening are always the most difficult parts for almost every student here...

And still, there are a lot of new words, confusing authentic English expressions, American and British slangs encountered everyday everytime I read a new article written by native speakers. It seems there are just millions of it and it never comes to an end! Slangs in an American or British movie or TV series are making it worse because I have to fugure out what they mean, why people laugh, and what the funny bone is! That sucks and makes me feel I'm a fool...

Because, we are living in global world. If we do someting together, we need a common language. Now, this language is English. However, we do not have to speak English very well. Also, we are not using many words in our daily life in our native languages.
