I heard that it has some similarities with hebrew but I am not sure though . Maybe Arabic is the only Semitic language which is still alive while most of semitic languages are now dead. I agree with you that it is funny but there are some theories claimed that Greece take their knowlege from ancient civilizations in  Mesopotamia (Iraq)

Funny thing is almost all Europe adopt the ancient Greek by linguistics. And the middle eastern countries adopt Mathematics from the ancient Greeks. Russia the Cyrillian letters from the Greeks.

I tried to copy the way they speak in USA but still need to work on it. I still couldn't get ride on my Arabic r. We pronounciate it like rrrr so simply my English is with Arabian accent. I am not in rush since Arabic is unique language and it is completley different from English. I see the difference now with Spanish. It is easy for me to adopt some similar vocabilaries because it has similarities with English. Now when I want to speak with Spanish , I tend to translate in English first then to Spanish. It is weird, right ?  :)
