I'm with Azalea: though in the US it's not exactly customary to remove one's shoes in the house, if you want to come in <em>my</em> house you're gonna take off your shoes, or you're gonna wash the floor <em>for</em> me.  I am not cleaning up anyone else's dirt!

In Russia streets is so dirty, and also the weather is cold except of summer, so of course we are taking off our shoes when we are coming into a flat))) First of all because it is not comfortable to stay in a warm place for a long time in shoes. *our shoes is warm enough, so your feet will become sweat soon))) And secondly, because it will make floor dirty, so it is not proper.
