I would not say they should "absolutely" not do, but one of the things that can irritate Japanese people is talking loudly on the train. I think many tourists from other countries tend to speak louder on the trains or buses in Japan. It is an unspoken rule and a manner not to be loud when you are taking public transportation. They sometimes sit on separate seats on the train, and talk over the person between them. I am pretty sure that some people are not comfortable with it.

Well done Kako! "Unspoken" rule is not really a "mistake" but I would say it's more common to say "unwritten rule" in English. It's a very good point about being quiet on the train in Japan haha. I lived there for 2 years and I quickly learnt that I needed to remember to be quiet on the trains!
