Hi there - I need a bit of help if someone would mind? I am new to iTalki, and so not yet all that familiar with how it all works. I have done tests in both Portuguese and French and have had the results back - how do I now start my conversational sessions with languge learners? Thanks! Tom

italki is essentially a marketplace for students to find teachers and then to pay for lessons with italki taking a commission. As a side feature, people can search for a conversation partner by posting a notice that they are looking for conversation in language X and offering language Z. There are many obstacles: time zones, work schedules, lack of commitment, and incompatible personalities. Good luck!

But sorry Chris - when I log on and enter the site, I can only see 'Find teacher' or 'Group Class' as clickable options; the site clearly thinks I am a student looking for language lessons. How do I log in as a teacher please ? Once we get this sorted I can't wait to talk away (there are few things I love more than conversing in another language!) Thanks, Tom

Hey Tom! Welcome to the italki community. Create a post using the hashtag Language Partner. I have had great luck with language exchanges in the past and was able to meet some wonderful people. You will have to change your privacy settings to allow people to message you. Once you make a post, people that are interested in a conversation will follow your profile. Follow them back to send a message. From there you can exchange details to arrange a meeting over an application like Zoom, Skype or Google Meet.
