I watched the movie 'Les Miserables'. that It touched my heart so much.

I just wonder, the story is from French history but almost all the actors are from the U.S.A.
How/What do you think about a French story made in Hollywood?

I asked it because I felt weird to watching the movie 'Geisya', whose lead actress was from Hong Kong, even though the movie has a Japanese background.  that background is Japan but the actress from Hong Kong act the main cast.

...so to answer your question, Mayumi, I suppose that Hollywood makes, or remakes, movies that will appeal to audiences in the USA and worldwide (and make lots of money). Personally, I prefer authenticity. I'm sure there's an original French version, and it's probably better. I also tend to think that the book is better than the movie.

Also, I think that some poetry and music does not translate well at all from language to language. A few English-Japanese examples are the works of Matsuo Bashō (松尾 芭蕉) and Dr. Seuss.
