A smile is the shortest distance between two people

There is a brief quote/phrase that a smile is the shortest distance between two people,to with which i can't agree more.
Friends is are nessessary for everyone, and a smile is a wonderful way to make a friend. Maybe you don't know what to say to someone you meet at first time (or, ... you meet the first time), but you can do something, such as smile, to shorten your distance. Smiling is a good habit. As one person said, Said by someone, "he who likes to smile is a lucky dog." Smiling, on the one hand, could keep yourself in a cheerful mood, and on the other hand, could give encouragement to people around you. Besides, you could make a person falling on hard times to warm up and relaxing despite you know what happened to him at all by with a smile.
A smile is warm sunshine in cold winter, a smile is hope (at?) nights, a smile is a helping hand when you are in trouble. Therefore, I believe it is important for us to keep smiling to others and ourselves.

Besides, you could make a person, who has fallen on hard times, warm up and relax with your smile. Despite what you know has happened to him, you should make him smile with your smile.
