Lucky numbers?

In the US we may feel that 13 is an unlucky number, but I feel like the Chinese are more serious in their belief. I understand that 8 is a lucky number. How about 3 and 5?

It really depends on the dialect.  Usually 4 is considered unlucky as it sounds like "death".  However, some dialects the pronunciation sound lucky.

Greater importance is the combination of numbers and how they sound.

Some examples

9413 is a terrible number.  It sounds like 九死一生, 90% dead ie 9 die one live.

5354 = nonsense

144 = sure to die 一死死, no one wants this to be their hospital number.

58 = never get rich 唔發

54 = didn't die 唔死

24 = easy to die 易死

28 = easy to get rich 易發

48 = get rich till you die!  死發 hence a good number!

Thus 2848 is very lucky!
