Yeony
Those who need to be careful with their fingers on internet Internet enables someone to hide their identity and makes a room for expressing the thoughts somewhat more freely with broader audience. But as usual in some cases, there's a downside of possibility to get one's messages and ideas over to people without revealing identity. There can be a situation when a stranger makes a mess with the cover of anonymity. The masked one leaves a snarky comment that won't be said in face to face in real life, or try to trick someone into believing what they are not. They cleverly gain support from people who like to talk about things they don't know, discuss things they haven't experienced. Then other people read some non-senses these ignorant people wrote on internet, and use it for their gossip in real life, saying as if those are facts even though they didn't or couldn't fact-checked those. Furthermore, some of them were not even interested in the topic before. They join there just to participate in criticizing, attacking something or in meddling in a person's affairs. One typical example of victim of internet bullying in Korea would be Korean singer Epik High's Tablo. He graduated from Stanford University summa cum laude and went back to Korea and started his career as a singer. But a internet troll, known as Kim Eung Seok, alias Whatbecomes spreaded rumor that his Stanford degree is fake and a few his supporters even threated Tablo and his family members in real life, which hindered his career as a singer. But the anonymity doesn't always mean people always cannot tell who you are. When it gets too far, there are people who try to find out the truth. Whatbecomes claimed that he is a doctor for president Obama and that he had some connection with Korean presidents but those were found all lies for embellishing himself. His groundless claims against Tablo went on until he met with arrest warrant from Korea and Korean police sought the help of Interpol. People have right to express their thoughts about what they like, but that should be accompanied with responsibilities. They have to be aware that the karma brings back what they had done to others. If they continue to do that, changing their masks and move on to other place whenever expiration date of the mask is due, one day they pay for the bad behavior.
