LEEDS FILM CLUB ANNUAL REPORT (a sample report for the proficiency exam) Following another successful year, the club is able to make ambitious plans for the coming twelve months. The aims of the present report is to summarise its current financial status, review recent events, and outline future prospectives. Financial affairs The club has experienced a slight rise in expenses: film rental costs were increased last August and mailing costs have also risen, due to a notable increase in membership: 52 new members have enrolled and their fees have contributed to the club's healthy bank balance. Furthermore, in April, the club was granted a subsidy of £700 from the Department for Culture, due to its contribution in promoting cinema and cinematic arts. Main Events The highlights of last year's programme are as follows: - Welcome for new members, February - Short season of Quentin Tarantino's films, March - Talk by screenwriter and filmmaker Paul Schrader, April - Visit to Venice Film Festival, June - Summer barbecue and cocktail party, July - Lecture series of animation techniques, September - Annual club dinner, December Of these, the Venice Festival visit was the most satisfactory one, and thanks must be given to Mr Salvatore for organising the event and being so thoughtful with the attendants. Conversely, the lecture series was poorly attended, and enrolments barely covered the costs of the venue and speaker. It would be appreciated if members could provide some feedback, so that the same mistakes are not repeated in the future. Future plans As always, the film programme is defined largely at members' request. Since the list of screenings isn't fully covered yet, proposals on new films are more than welcome. One exciting developing is the setting up of a virtual movie library, which was eagerly requested by members. The choice will be either watching films online or downloading them free of charge. Finally, the club is proud to announce the presence of the renowned American director Clint Eastwood, during a season dedicated to his extensive filmography.

LEEDS FILM CLUB ANNUAL REPORT (a sample report for the proficiency exam)

Following another successful year, the club is able to make ambitious plans for the coming twelve months. The aim of the present report is to summarise its current financial status, review recent events, and outline future prospectives. (the aim ... is to summarize, not 'the aims ... is to summarize)

Financial affairs
The club has experienced a slight rise in expenses. Film rental costs were increased last August, and mailing costs have also risen due to a notable increase in membership. Fifty-two new members have enrolled, and their fees have contributed to the club's healthy bank balance. Furthermore, in April the club was granted a subsidy of £700 from the Department for Culture, due to its contribution in promoting cinema and cinematic arts. (I changed the punctuation because I think it reads better as a series of sentences.)

Main Events
The highlights of last year's programme are were as follows: (the highlights occurred last year => pasado; or you could say, The following is a list of last year's programme, because the list occurs in the present)
- Welcome for new members, February
- Short season of Quentin Tarantino's films, March
- Talk by screenwriter and filmmaker Paul Schrader, April
- Visit to Venice Film Festival, June
- Summer barbecue and cocktail party, July
- Lecture series of animation techniques, September
- Annual club dinner, December

Of these, the Venice Festival visit was the most satisfactory one, and thanks must be given to Mr. Salvatore for organising the event and being so thoughtful with the attendants. Conversely, the lecture series was poorly attended, and enrolments barely covered the costs of the venue and speaker. It would be appreciated if members could provide some feedback, so that the same mistakes are not repeated in the future.

Future plans
As always, the film programme is defined largely at members' request. Since the list of screenings isn't fully covered yet, proposals on for new films are more than welcome. (Generally we say to make a proposal FOR something. EJ: The mayor made a proposal for a new library.)
One exciting developmenting is the setting up of a virtual movie library, which was eagerly requested by members. The choice will be either watching films online or downloading them free of charge.*
Finally, the club is proud to announce the presence of the renowned American director Clint Eastwood, during a season dedicated to his extensive filmography.

I can't explain why, but the following two options sound better to me:

The choice will be either to watch films online or to download them free of charge.

OR

The choice will be between watching films online or downloading them free of charge.

As I reflect on my preference, it occurs to me that Shakespeare is in the back of my mind:

"To be or not to to, that is the question."

(See http://www.enotes.com/shakespeare-quotes/not-that-question)

Also, I think after a preposition such as OF or BETWEEN, the gerund makes more sense: choice of going, choice between going and staying, etc.

BUT

A choice TO DO something. EJ: Is your choice to go or to stay?

There must be a grammar rule about this somewhere. I'm just commenting on what sounds better to me.

Great job. Your English is excellent.
