Confusing words

Does the word "affection" have different meanings?
I know this word describes, for example, a feeling of liking someone or something.
Can I also use "affection" to talk about sickness, disease or illness? Do all these words have the same meaning?

Affection can sometimes refer to psychological disease, but that usage is rare and mostly archaic. You are probably thinking of affliction.

Many thanks for these explanations. It's very helpful. I found that word "affection" in an online dictionary. There, they translated it like illness. So I was a little confused. Online dictionaries are very helpful, but not always correct.
