Writing skill practice # 4 Cambridge IELTS 10 Some parents buy their children a large number of toys to play with. What are the advantages and disadvantages for the children of having a large number of toys? ------------------- Nowadays, toys have been part of children's life when they grow up. There are both advantages and disadvantages for some parents to buy lots of toys for their kids, but in my point of view, too many toys lead to more problems rather than benefits. Some people state that the toys do good to children's intelligence development. A case in point, kids like to play with interactive toys which can make sound being touched on some buttons. The sound stimulation from this kind of toys increase the brain cells and build up more connections between them, which could make the children more clever and repond more quickly. In this case, toys are beneficial for children's mind as training tools. Nevertheless, being surrounded by piles of toys absolutely affect the young in some negative ways. Firstly, too many toys distract the kids from one toy to another, so that they cannot concentrate on one thing for a long time at all, which is crucial when it comes to learn reading and writing later. Moreover, spending too much time with toys reduce their social time, such as having fun with peers and communicating with families. From these social interaction activities, kids learn behavior rules and how to get along well with others, which matters pretty much more in life than intelligence. To conclude, despite the fact that toys bring some advantages for children's life to some degree, it is my firm belief that at the same time it could also involve unexpected problems with focus span and socialisation. To be wise parents, we are responsible to take overall and serious consideration that what our kids really need.
