Hello community!
Could anyone help me with the following question? Is there any difference which article to use before the name of a dance in a sentence? Or should I use any at all? As in "to dance a/the/- waltz", "to dance a/the/- hip-hop" etc. Is there any particular context which defines the article we put?
I would really appreciate your help!

I'm not familiar with the waltz, but I would expect:
Dance waltz = informal, or rare grammar
Dance the waltz = formal, but common
Dance a waltz = slang
Dance hip-hop = natural
Dance the hip-hop = slang
Dance a hip hop = slang
So there are trends based on what meaning and tone you want. But there is also a lot of flexibility.

I would say to dance the waltz, but dance hip hop. The waltz is a specific dance. Hip hop is a style/type of dance.
