"negro" is it offensive?
Is it offensive or as offensive as "nigger"? I'm a bit confused, been coming across it on the Internet quite often lately by non-black folk, though "nigger" does seem quite out of place even on racist forum(s).
So I started to wonder if that's an appropriate word to use?

it used to not be offensive, but now that everything is politically incorrect, it is considered offensive. You may still hear older people say it just because it was acceptable when they were young.

Negro is not offensive. However, if you said to a black man, "You're a negro", that wouldn't sound nice at all.
Is the term "Russian" offensive?????

It is strange how "negro" became offensive. Initially, the term was coined to NOT be offensive.

Yes it is offensive. "Black", however, is generally not offensive, at least to my black friends.
