What does "chop-logic" (chopped logic) mean? Romeo and Juliet III.5: "How now, how now, chop-logic!" On each site I go I see a different explanation: chopped logic (n.) contentious arguer, disputatious wretch chopped logic = hair-splitting chopp'd logic: illogical logic, shallow argument I think the latter is more fitting.

Here 'chop logic' means one who bandies words or is very argumentative.

This is what I get: to reason or dispute argumentatively; draw unnecessary distinctions. I guess it means to argue for the sake of arguing, with no real basis (logic).
