If you followed the movie it should be obvious.
If he tells him, he will have to kill him, because nobody must know the secret.

it means that the secret is so closely guarded, not a single living soul can know about it. therefore if one person found out, it would be one person too many and that person would have to be killed to keep the secret from spreading.
