gefallen = to like, to enjoy (generally)
etwas schmeckt = it has a nice taste (only for food). In a few cases the negative can also be used metaphorically ("Das schmeckt mir gar nicht" = I don't like this situation), but that happens very rarely.
(1) is correct, (2) is wrong, because a movie isn't food.

gefallen = to please
schmecken = to taste
That is the difference.
