How can I use "Food" word as countable or uncountable? on which occasions can I use "Food" word as countable or uncountable? I love Italian food, especially pasta. The doctor told him not to eat fatty foods. I found these sentences from Longman dictionary. Can I say "I love Italian foods"?

I would say "I like Italian food". This is an example of a word that can be countable or non-countable, according to context. The countable version comes into play when the phrase "types of" can be omitted. I like different types of cheese. I can also say I like different cheeses.

By writing "foods", you actually mean "types of food". When speaking in the general sense, always use uncountable "food".
