what does 'make all even' mean? I recently came across this phrase 'make all even' in a sentence made by an English learner, and wonder if this phrase makes any sense since I couldn't find it in any dictionary. The original sentence goes like: Okay, you buy me a soda and then it will make all even (or then we are even).

It actually means "We are same". That means.. if you buy him a drink and he buys you a soda, then you both don't have anything to pay back to one another. So you both are even or on same level. Hope you got the meaning :)

...make us even. I did something for you, you did something for me, now we are even.
