Qu'est-ce que les Français pensent des Marocains et des Américains et vice-versa ? Que pensez-vous vous-même ? About Moroccans, nothing particular except they are for us like Mexico to you Americans in the sense they're interested to come in France work and study. In France, we don't study a lot our colonial past in the History books, so although we are informed a bit on the Algeria's war topic in school, we are for most of us totally ignorant about the situation toward Morocco and Tunisia and we have to learn by our own means or our encounters. We used to be like brother as we are only separated by the Mediterranean sea, but it's a bit more complicated than that as the history has mixed us. We've got inherited for instance a Treaty between our both countries for foster the French retirees to live over there and spur the Morocco's economy by the way of a haircut on taxes. So, they've got enough people from France living in some entrenched and comfortable lots. On the other hand, Moroccans are numerous to have immigrated in France with their families to work and they're not always satisfied by their conditions of living and complain about their integration as well as other immigrants. About the USA, every one in France was really fond of this country during the 80's and 90's due to the Hip Hop scene, the "Dream Team" in the basket's competition, the Nike's sneakers, the brands like Coca Cola, the TV series, but after many years we've discovered that your values were not profitable to us as it spreads too much violence, the astonishing number of obese person you got, the politic of W.Jr Bush, the surge in diabetes, the increasing bad-healthy of your fast-food restaurants and tasted-poorly cafe whereas with Italy we don't feel a special need for ourselves and so the rattle to our culture... b I'm very critical but it's just my feeling. By the way, Americans are usually very lovely and nice as they used to be very demonstrative in their manners. You've got some good points too from what we should be more inspired to copy as for instance your free-press, but we don't like when your institutions try to give us a lecture... In this case too, it's due to history. What think of us Moroccans ? Ask them, it would be really interesting to know. Likewise about Americans, but you can give us a beginning of answer ;)

Hi Brian, Dimo had perfectly describe the relation between french and Moroccan people. Being a Moroccan who had already visited France I'm really convince that the majority of french people are nice. I can also assume that most of Moroccan have a good impression on french people, perhaps it's not the case toward the government. Unfortunately, the fact that Morocco is a undeveloped country and huge number of Moroccans in France make the relation seems not good for some french people and I totally agree with them. Finally I have a remark on French people is that most of them have a lack of confidence on their country and think they are week compared to big country like USA or Germany.

I would love to learn more about French news if you guys have links? =] I am very interested in the EU going forward as well. A lot of the American's are very upset with politicians and feel more and more like they are not represented, in fact I read an article today that said congress is at a 10% approval rating (only 10% of the American people asked said they approve of our congressmen). But it's not that Americans hate America, in fact I love America. I love our people and our ideals, we hate that the people in power are so often bad people... Personally I like Obama though and love Bill Clinton, but I hated Bush. Here's a list of sites I read everyday. http://www.reddit.com/ (User based news) http://www.economist.com/ (World News / Economics) http://online.wsj.com/home-page (Finance) http://www.aclu.org/ (civil liberties) Not news but... I also watch a lot of videos from Yale Open Courses http://oyc.yale.edu/

You've got some soul-searching by questioning this history but it's a bit complicated to explain. Your country want to be the only one superpower country in the globe, and the Republicans are completely false in their judgement about France like about the rich for who they used to work. First things first, we're not Communist, or if we are, we would be the true and genuine model to copy with the countries of Northern Europe by the USA as your Health Care reform is trying to copy our Social Security for diminish the cost of Health. China is not at all a Communist country in comparison. We, in France, we have managed to reduce the inequalities by our system of redistribution through the state. But we are too indebted like your country, managing anyway to endorse our social policies. And many people don't understand the role of the state, it's crazy as they believe it's their foe... The Republicans are not accurate as they play on the fears of a majority and on a tax system who spare the rich. Until the 70's, the level of tax was two times more higher in the US. About Islam, we've got the same problem with people who don't know always make the difference between Muslims and Islamist. The wars against Iraq and Afghanistan has indebted your country and that's really bad as from a mindset of the image of USA in the world. I used to read the NYT and I think by this famous newspaper you may get a more and significant opinion than with any discussion here, even if it's always interesting. Likewise if you wanna read the news about France. If you allow me, I recommend you a lot.

It cut off quite a bit of my comment... in summary for fighting the Taliban / those who were involved in 9-11 but nothing farther than that should have happened.
