what does "ponz" mean
Recently I read one comment about Shakespeare's "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day", which says: he's telling a wealthy young ponz exactly what he wants to hear. I've tried to look up the word "ponz" in the dictionary, but there is no such word. I just guess that maybe the word is similar to the meaning of "guy". I don't know. Is there anyone who can help me with the word "ponz"? Many thanks.

So yes, it's "guy", but pejorative. Compare and contrast: "git". :)

Honestly, I don't think I have the answer. Shakespeare uses many words which we don't use today. However, my guess is that it does mean "guy".
