does “marooned” mean "trapped" or "dark brownish-red"here?
Parkland's grounds had begun to resemble an automobile graveyard. Marooned cars were strewn along its driveways and lawns, some with motors running, most with at least one door open, all of them parked at random angles. Inside, the emergency area had been overwhelmed.

In this case, the author is using the word "marooned" as in "abandoned." The color "maroon" is not a verb, so we can't change it to "marooned" and still have it referencing a color.
Also, the context of the word gives us hints about the definition of this word. The writer uses phrases like "automobile graveyard" and describes the setting as very chaotic and disorganized. In this context, "abandoned" seems to fit very well.
Hope this helps!
