Could you tell me what does "SOHO" actually mean? 1. Is it an office or used to describe a person? For example, Two of my friends are writers and SOHO. Is this example right?

from holy wiki: The name "SoHo" refers to the area being "SOuth of HOuston (Street)", and was also a reference to the London district of Soho. used to define a business area in a city

Acronyms are often confusing, and without context (or someone just telling you), it turns into a silly guessing game. Well, thefreedictionary.com turned up another option: Safety and Occupational Health Officer. (Actually it says "office", but it's an easy stretch for it to mean officer). Would that make any sense?

It doesn't sound right to me. Soho is a place, I believe it is a suburb of New York, and also in London there is a place called this. There is a business term called SOHO - small or home office, but I don't think that is correct in this context. SOHO is a class of business, usually it is used in Sales. 'This is the perfect product for SOHO customers'
