You should learn PINYIN first. Sound of every chinese character is made of PINYIN charaters. Every chinese kid learns from A (ah), O (wo), E (er), I (ee), U (uh), ǖ(yu), B (bo), P(po), M(mo), F(fo), D(de),.....

Learning Chinese characters is not easy, much harder than learning speaking and listening,you can buy a Chinese dictionary to get know the meaning of the characters,or go to some Chinese learning website. If you want to learn it properly you might need a teacher to help you!

To see if there is a website can teach you write chinese character or go to have some classes or buy a book that have the charater's writting step and you imitate it or i teach you:) The order of strokes is very important and basic i think.
