Good question. I usually find "awkward" hard to translate into Persian. It has different meanings in various examples. For what you mentioned, ناجور is a fairly acceptable equivalent. If by awkward you mean "feeling uneasy embarrassment or inconvenience" it can be translated as moazzab معذب. example: she felt awkward alone with him وقتی با او تنها بود، معذب می شد. There can be a list of different translations of awkward in Persian. It's only one of them.
