Hi Dennis, the only thing you can do is... TAKE IT EASY. Don't be frustrated. You're not the only one with this problem. Everybody trying to learn a foreign language has to deal with this stuff. Words have many different meanings and many possible translations. Could you explain to me what does "GET" mean? I'm sure you could try, but it wouldn't worth it. That's why you can't learn a language just by reading a dictionary. Good luck. Read a lot. Listen to native speakears as much as you can. And SPEAK, speak, speak. Dannis, I just checked the translations provided for this verb and it seems to me that this is a common mistake that many dictionaries make. Trying to provide all possible uses of a word to the learner, they end up making more difficult. The verb "disponer" may have the following meanings: 1) To have something that can be used in any way one may want to use it, this is one of the most common uses of this verb: Dispongo de tiempo, pero no de dinero. I have time, but not money. Literally "I have time that I can use as I wish, but I do not have money to use it the same way." Ella dispone de vasto conocimiento She has a vast knowledge that she can use any way she wants. You have to take into account that this verb does not only imply that the person has something, but also, that whatever the person has, can be used at his/her will. English uses the noun "disposition" in the same way, think of the sentence: This car is at your disposition. Este auto está a su disposición. You have this car to go anywhere you want any time you want. Now, there are two other uses of this verb, but they are just an extension of this same meaning. 2) inclination, desire. Ellos se disponen a venir. They are about to come. Literally "they are exercising their right to do what they want with themselves by coming here". 3) To place something in a specific way. This use is very formal. Las tropas serán dispuestas en la frontera. The troops will be placed in the boarder. Literally "the troops will be placed in the boarder to be used as we deem it necessary".
