For example or for instance?
Hi. I've a little doubt: what is the difference between "for example" and "for instance"? I just know that both mean the same thing.

You are right, they both mean the same thing. From my experience, "for instance" sounds more formal. Such as when you're at work and trying to explain something to your boss. "For example" sounds much more normal in most situations. Also, when I hear "for instance", I think the example you're about to give is usually very specific.
