To pronounce "ich" as .. I don't know, kind of "ish" is a dialect. For instance in Berlin you have the dialect that they say "ik" or "ike", so a hard k sound. In standard German you actually pronounce it like the light h like in "huge" (I really have to say, huge is a pretty good example for the ch, because one thing I often hear when learners of German (mostly beginner) try to pronounce the words they totally exagerate the ch sound which makes it sound pretty harsh) As stupid as it may sound, if you type in "ich" in google translate and hear the pronounciation you'll get a good grisp of how it sounds. Hearing a native speaker would be better of course.

Pay attention! Standard German as two, quite, different sounds for "ch": voiceless palatal fricative /ç/ "äch" "ech" "ich" "öch" "üch" voiceless uvular fricative /χ/ "ach" "och" "uch"

The German ''CH" sounds a bit, but much stronger, like the Mandarin initial H in 很. The H in huge comes quite close too.

汉语x，俄语щ，以及日语し 的声母都是/ɕ/，而德语ich的ch，英语huge的h，以及日语ひ 的声母都是/ç/（后两者其实是/h/的同位音）。 这两个都是擦音，其不同点在于，第一，/ɕ/发音位置在齿龈后，/ç/发音位置在硬腭，第二，/ɕ/是咝音（也就是舌尖有高频湍流），/ç/不是。要练习/ç/的发音，只需要在汉语x的基础上，保持口型和舌位，把发音位置向后靠，另外去掉舌尖的湍流，只让气流通过舌头中部与硬腭形成的窄带摩擦发出声音即可。 当然我说的是标准德语。各种方言里发什么的都有。
