1. The medicine I took just now has the side effect of causing stomach aches. 2. Yes 3. To take herbs- you take herbs. Ex. I took herbs for my headache. I took a Chinese herb for my headache. But, you could also say to take an herb or to take (descriptive word) herb.. Ex. I took an herb for my headache. I took a Chinese herb for my headache.
