Modale hjelpeverb Dear all, could you please tell me if this is correct? kunne = to be able, to be allowed ville = to want to, to will as in "I promise I will clean up my room" skulle = should måte = to have to burde = should, ought to Can somebody also explain the differences with a simple sentence for each verb? Because the difference is not 100% clear. Thank you very much in advance for your help!

måtte = to have to Your definitions are correct. Many of these words are used a little differently in different contexts. I think it's better that you try them out in your next notebook entry. Coming up with a good range of examples is a bit hard.
