the word "par"
If adults are being yelled at and insulted on a daily basis, that just is par for the course on how they're going to treat young people.
What is "that just is par for the course"?

"par for the course" is an English idiom meaning 'what one would expect'. For a full explanation see here: http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/par+for+the+course
It's basically taken literally from golf, where the 'par for the course' is the score that one would expect a good, club, player to be able to achieve on that course.
