It is something that is being argued about. A "moot point" is something that people were fighting over and never reached a conclusion. So if you say that spoons are the best and i say that forks are the best and we fight about it, If by the time we are done fighting neither of us agrees with the other, we have made a moot point. "Which is better, spoons or forks?"
