to change myself/to get changed/to get dressed
Hi everybody! I was just thinking of how I could say "I am going to change my clothes" in English and I found the three entries above; basically I was wondering whether they're interchangeable or there are some limits to the use of one or the other.
Thanks in advance! :)

Hi Gianmaria,
No, these aren't interchangeable. I'll quickly explain each one.
"to change myself" - this is a mistranslation of vestirsi. In English, we simply say "to change" when referring to what we are wearing, and the reflexive is implied because we use "change" as an intransitive verb. When we say "change myself", it means a change in our habits, attitudes or how we want others to see us. That's much more than just clothes!
"to get changed" - this means simply changing from one set of clothes to another. It's neutral.
"to get dressed" - this means you start as naked, or not dressed appropriately for your next task. If you are wearing pyjamas and need to dress for work, then we say "get dressed". Also, if you are already dressed for work but you need to wear better clothes for an important event (eg. a formal dinner), then we also say "get dressed".
I hope that clears things up for you!
