Hi Mini,
I will summarize the story for you:
Once upon a time, there was a prince. He was always full of joy. The people around him called him the "Happy Prince." He lived a palace where people could not have worry or sorrow. One day, he died and his statue was put in the middle of his village. He watches over his people every day.
Then, a swallow comes to the city. He is supposed to go to Egypt with his friends, but he falls in love with a reed (a plant). Winter comes and the swallow goes to the village. He meets the Happy Prince. The Happy Prince is sad because he sees all the poor people in the village. He asks the swallow to give the people jewels and gold. The little bird does this.
Eventually, the prince's statue has no more gold. The little bird dies from the cold. The mayor takes the statue away and melts the statue. But the statue's heart does not melt. The statue and the bird are symbols of kindness and charity.
