Question about the expression "from... to..." in German.
I'm not very clear about the way to express "from...to..." in German, you can find the following examples.
1. E: from left to right
G: von links nach rechts
2. E: from head to foot
G: von Kopt bis Fuß
See, both "from...to..." in English, but they are "von...nach..." and "von...bis..." in German. Why?
Could it be said that "von...nach..." indicates horizontal direction, and "von...bis..." demonstrates vertical direction?
Thank you.
