Well, don't force yourself to learn the language. It ain't fun that way in my opinion. What i usually do is - listen to music in the language - watch series/movies - read books - find some friends to chat with - may be weird but: talk to yourself sometimes translating some sentences. No one will hear it but it will improve your skills. - attend a course - don't be afraid to make mistakes :) It takes time to learn a language especially German. The best way is to just keep going.
