Grammar: what's the difference between “past perfect tense" and "present perfect tense"? What's the difference between “past perfect tense" and "present perfect tense"? Past perfect = something that was completed before something else happened. I had studied English before I went to Canada. Present perfect = something happened before now I have been to Canada.
