hello
What is the difference between 'The Antarctic' and 'Antarctica'? I think' Antarctica' is used as a meaning of a continent, and 'The Antarctic' is used as just an antipode of 'The Arctic'. However, I'm not sure.

'Antarctic' and 'Arctic' are adjectives, referring to regions below or above a specific latitude. 'The Antarctic' is everywhere south of 66.5 degrees. 'Antarctica' is a proper noun, as it is the name of the continent. There is no equivalent continent in the Arctic, so there is no equivalent name.
