Is Roma a feminine noun in Italian?
I haven’t learned Italian and know nothing about that language. I came across an Italian word, Roma, while reading an English novel. I want to know if Roma is a feminine noun in Italian. Thank you so much.the context:
Let's go to Rome to-night and never come back. Rome is a beautiful city, said the major. The mother and father of nations, I said. Roma is feminine, said Rinaldi. It cannot be the father. Who is the father, then, the Holy Ghost? Don't blaspheme…It’s from A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway (Chapter 12).I think the speaker means Roma is a feminine noun, right?
