Sentences with ‘Change One’s Mind’
I’d like to ask if the following sentences with ‘change my mind’ are correct. Could you please help correct them if there is any mistake?
1) I’ve changed my mind of having a barbecue with them this weekend. (I made up my mind to have a barbecue with my friends tomorrow, but for some reason, I’ve changed my mind.)
2) I’ve changed my mind of not buying that car. (I made up my mind not to buy that car, but now I’m going to buy it.)
Looking forward to your response. Thank you in advance!I think ‘change one’s mind about something’ only tells us about what someone has changed their mind. Am I right?
Can l use ‘not to + verb’ and ‘to + verb’ in sentences with ‘change my mind’ to talk about my new decision (not just talking about what I’ve changed my mind)? Could you please help correct the following sentences?
1) I’ve changed my mind not to have a barbecue with them this weekend (because I still have a lot of work to do).
2) I’ve changed my mind to buy that car (as the one I’ve been using is too old).

The preposition you need is 'about.' 'Of' is incorrect.
I've changed my mind about having a barbecue this weekend...
I've changed my mind about buying that car...

In English you change your mind about something. In your second example you don't need 'not'. Therefore your sentences become:
1. I’ve changed my mind about having a barbecue with them this weekend.
2. I’ve changed my mind about buying that car.

I think you need speaking practice with native speakers. It would help you to hear the subtle differences between your answers and the correct ones.
