What is difference between "compared with something" and "compared to something" ? Can I use both when comparing facts, information etc. ?

Although Jessica's suggestion is accurate in some places, in general practice, both are used. Part of it depends on where the person is from, and part just depends on how the person is thinking at the moment. I use both, and they really mean the same thing when I use them.

"Compared to" is used to compare two unlike things...as used in analogies ...she was compared to a beautiful rose... "Compared with" is used to compare two things that are similar...They compared the forged art with the original masterpiece. I hope that helps!
