просить / попросить

These are the examples of perfective and imperfective aspects of Russian verbs.
Спрашивать, просить - imperfective
Спросить, попросить - perfective.
Also, there is a difference in meaning. Спрашивать и спросить - to ask about some information, whereas просить и попросить - to ask someone to do something.

спрашивать is used to convey the idea of asking a questionabout smth
EX: Она спрашивает у меня об экзамене.
Просить conveys the idea of asking FOR or requesting
Ex: Она часто просит у меня ручку.

Спрашивать = to ask a question. "Вопрос" is the related noun, 'a question'.
Просить = ask for something. "Просьба" is the noun. 'act of asking', 'a request'.
Could you please .... ?
Is technically a вопрос, but in reality it is a просьба.
