What do you think of posh English(referred to as RP)? Is it well-liked by many Britons?

RP = received pronunciation Hailey, the British people generally don't speak in RP, although I don't agree that it is 'posh English'. It is a dialect that is understood everywhere in the UK but spoken naturally only by a limited number of citizens. Properly used it is a tool that can help open doors for you in certain social circles but you will need a *very* good elocution tutor or voice coach to properly learn to speak it. Stephen

I think it's rather amazing and jolly good fun. It really is a splendid way to make use of the marvelous British language as spoken by the good old chaps back in the days. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to leave for an absolutely spiffing party. Good luck with your English and one hopes one's answers helped you a bit, I might say. Oh, and before I forget, thanks for your divine question, darling, it was an honor to try my hand at answering it. Smashing, breathtaking, gorgeous, absolutely jolly hockeysticks, I'd have to say.

i love British Accent so badly, but speaking of RP, I really don't think there are many people speak in that way, perhaps only Queen, I guess, haha, actually, i like cockney, so strong and charming!! really amazing!! but i couldn't imitate it perfectly,so i speak GA now, what a pity, but if u dont live at london or have a good native teacher,it really hard to make it, but anyway,i can speak"harry potter" with a perfect british accent, that's good enough to me.^_^

It's like someone speaking in a King and Queen manner I don't know saying imnida, nika and -yo/-seyo all the time even though you're in a casual situation or been friends for ages. (sorry if my Korean example sucks, I'm trying to remember what makes it polite ^^")

Recieved Pro is sooooooooooo~ uncommon. Even in the BBC Rp is dying/dead out and it's more SE. I think it's a weird way to speak because it just sounds ancient and out of place. Eitherway, when people use too much slang it gets weird too.
