Help with Arabic (Levantine) vocabulary?
Hi everyone, I'm going to ask all my questions here in one post
1. What is the Arabic (dialect) word for "make" in the sense of "interviews make me nervous" or "she made me sad" ? Like the french "rendre" "ca m'a rendu triste" for example.
2. What is the word for "roommate"? Is there one?
3. How would you say translate "she is tall for a girl"
4. Is this correct: بقفتي في كنب (behind me there is a couch) ?

In Levantine Arabic:
1- "interviews make me nervous" * المقابلات بتخلنيني متوترة *
make = خلّى ,
she made me sad = خلتني زعلانة
2- roommate / رفيق السكن or
or you can check wich one you need >>> http://www.almaany.com/en/dict/ar-en/roommate/
3- هي طويلة بالنسبة لفتاة
4- بقفتي في كنب this one is not correct
وراي في كنبة or
في كنبة وراي

you would usually drop the -rendre- / -make someone- from a sentence and express the whole in one word:
زعّلتني
حزّنتني
نرفزتني

Hello there ,
Palestinian dialect :
we use in this situation the verb ( خلاني ) for male and ( خلتني ) for female.
interviews make me nervous
المقابلات بتخليني قلقه
she made me sad
هيه خلتني زعلانه
or
هيه زعلتني
roommate = اللي ساكن بالغرفه معي , example: she is my roommate هيه ساكنه بالغرفه معي
we also use : شريك بالغرفه
she is tall for a girl ( if you mean that it is not really nice to be tall as a girl ) we say :
مش حلو الطول لالها كبنت
behind me there is a couch .. couch ( كنبايه or كنبه )
في ورايه كنبايه
في كنبايه ورايه
