Always 'to' after 'access' when it's noun? Hello everyone, I've come across a sentence in a book that it doesn't look grammatically correct to such extent I know. So, I'd like to share it with you to see whether they are right or not. It seems to me 'to' is dropped in the sentence. # many people die of preventable diseases because they have no access the safe and effective vaccines. ( it seems to me there must be: have no 'access to' the safe and ...) Thanks in advance.

Hi Sara, yes, you're correct. In this sentence 'access' needs the preposition 'to'. It should read 'they have no access to safe and effective vaccines' - it doesn't need the article 'the'.

Dear Sara, How are you? Perfect your suggestion is correct because the access is both the verb and noun and we have two prepositions (to, for) when access is a noun.In this place access is a noun and we should use to after access. Mohammad

You're right, it should be 'access to.' It sounds better without the article before 'safe.' ...they have no access to safe and effective vaccines.
