This is for American English, which is slightly different from British English. For example, I've never heard an American say "full stop." Well, except for my daughter, but she went to university in England. ;-) So: 1. # : On a phone or ATM, it's referred to as a "pound sign." On social media, it's a hashtag. 2. the sign at the end of a sentence. for example: he is a boy. what is this sign called? a dot? : It's usually called a period at the end of a sentence, but if you are saying, "My website is www.whatever," then it's called a dot. (As in, "my website is www dot whatever.") 3. %: percent sign. 4. >: It is a "greater than" sign. I guess the Americans and British agree on some things. ;-) 5. !: Exclamation point. Some Americans may use "exclamation mark," so either works. 6. ~: tilde 7. ` note that it is not a single quote: It can be used to represent feet. For example: I am 5' 4" tall.
